Well, we have to apologize for the lack of blog updates since August. Things have been pretty busy at the Olson household.
-Chelsea is happy to see the end of football season come to an end. Since Cody has season tickets to Beaver football, many of our weekends we spent in Corvallis. However, Chelsea was happy to have some Duck fans come join her for Civil War weekend! Civil war can be a tough day/weekend/week for a house divided like ours, but we survived. The Ducks finished with a 37-20 win against the Beavers which scored them a ticket straight to the BCS National Championship game held in Glendale, Arizona on January 10, 2011!
Overall, it was a fun day filled with great times with family and friends, tons of food, drinks and jello shots, and even ESPN Game Day!
-In November, we spent Thanksgiving Weekend in Eugene with our families. Kim and Loren held dinner at their house with the Olson gang at 2pm, then we headed the Chelsea's parents for dessert. We enjoyed a second Thanksgiving dinner on Friday with Cody's great grandma and cousins he hadn't seen in years. In the end, we probably ate way too much that weekend!
-Shortly after Thanksgiving, we went to get our Christmas tree. Our good friend Tyler came with us to help out. Once we picked out our perfect tree, we headed home to decorate the tree and hang our lights.
-We spend one evening writing our Christmas letter "The Holiday Annual". While Cody was busy writing the letter, Chelsea made homemade pizza, opened up a bottle of wine (okay...2 bottles), and turned on some Christmas music to get into the holiday spirit.
-In mid December, Chelsea spent a Saturday Wedding dress shopping with her best friend Amie while Cody got started on some Christmas shopping. Later that evening, we attended the Teddy Bear Toss at the Portland Winter Hawks game for our first time. It was a great experience! Over 12,000 teddy bears were collected for needy children. Cody wants to attend it again next year and plans to bring the largest teddy bear he can find!
-Christmas seemed to approach quickly this year. We headed to Tillamook the Saturday before Christmas to spend the day with Chelsea's side of the family. Grandma and Grandpa Robideau held Christmas as their house again. It was great to see everyone but boy how the family has grown over the last few years! We spent Christmas weekend in Eugene. Aunt Darlene and Unlce Neal held The Olson Christmas dinner at their house this year. We enjoyed a evening of gifts, great food and catching up with Cody's side of the family. For Christmas day, we decided to divide the day in half. Morning with Kim and Loren and dinner & evening with The Stuebing's. Wayne and his girlfriend Brooke spent Christmas in California so we missed them on Christmas. Santa was good to us both! He brought Cody a chainsaw (Cody feels like he is officially a man now that he has a chainsaw!), a meat smoker, some camping stuff, and some maps for his handheld GPS. Since Chelsea is starting to train for Hood to Coast next August, Santa surprised her with a IPOD NANO and some running clothes. She also got a pasta attachment for her KitchenAid, Duck basketball tickets vs. Washington Huskies(in the new U of O arena!), rice cooker, and of course a National Championship T-Shirt! Of course, Santa didn't forget about Roxy and Maxi too!
That pretty much wraps up our 2010. It was a pretty good year, but we look forward to all the great things in life to come-including our trip to Japan in March 2011!
