26 Week Check-Up

Today we had our 26 week appointment.  Everything seems to be going well...

-Baby Hanley has a strong heartbeat (I still love the sound of his rapidly beating heart!).

-My weight gain no longer really bothers me because I can see where all the weight is going! I am gaining almost exactly 4 lbs per month (which puts me right on track).

-Our midwife has assured me my belly measurements are within range. At my 22 week appt., I measured in at 23 weeks and today at 26.5 weeks, I measured in at 27 weeks.  Another indication he will be a big boy...hmmmm?

-I passed my glucose screening (test for gestational diabetes) with flying colors! Which it really wasn't all that bad.

-It appears our insurance change that became effective July 1st went through without any problems.  Switching me from my employers insurance to Cody's is going to save us a lot of money come delivery day.

-Cody has made it to every single Dr.'s appointment with me to date.  I love how involved he has been with the process. I might be carrying Hanley but we are in this together :o)

-We are signed up for birthing classes and the hospital tour.  I am really looking forward to the hospital tour.

So, that about sums up everything to date. We are all happy, healthy and very thankful!

  1. Sounds like everything is right on track ... these next few months are going to fly by!!! I'm glad that you signed up for birthing classes and the hospital tour ... I think they were both helpful, especially for Todd (and especially if something unplanned happens!) My word of advise that I'm going to share today so I don't forget to tell you later is ... "keep an open mind" ... don't get your heart set on this is how I want it to be ...I've had friends that go in with I'm not having an epidural or I can't handle a C-section ... then they are upset when they have to have a change in the plan! Just keep in mind its ok to have a plan ... but its also ok if things change!!! (I know it did in our case!!!)

  2. Don't worry about him being a big baby...I measured 3 weeks ahead until 36 weeks with Madison!! Then measured right on from 36 weeks to delivery and age was only 7 lbs 8 oz :-) so very excited to meet Hanley!! And great job daddy cody for being so involved and supportive...definitely makes it nice for mama :-)

  3. I am mostly worried about him being a big baby because me and all my brothers were big. I was 9.5 lbs and I was 2 weeks early (I know, a chunker!), my brothers were 8.3, 9.5 and 9.8lbs. Cody was 8.1 lbs. The odds do not look like they are in our favor. On a more positive note...my Mom gave birth to all 4 of us 100% naturally!
